Assembly Air for Treads and Precise Baluster Connections

The installation of bracketed stairs has been made considerably easier in the new SEMA Version 23.3. Especially in France, with this type of stair design, the treads are inserted into the cut strings via a cut-out and locked in place with a pre-inserted dowel.

For the installation, the tread must be “tilted in”, pushed into the cut-out and pressed down so that the dowel locks into place. This used to be extremely difficult because there is little air present. Now it is possible to determine assembly air in the connection points of the tread to the cut string by creating a rectangular cut-out in the tread where it will be in contact with the vertical part of the cut string.

The length and depth of the cut-out are adjusted individually so that the stair designers can define their own optimum for the installation. To date, these cut-outs have been drawn and edited either by hand or using the auxiliary function of an enveloping cube that has been set freely.

These additional tasks are no longer necessary due to the new assembly air function: Stair designers can set their preferences once and then continue working with them consistently. SEMA automatically regenerates the parameters for each project. The new setting can be found under "Connection cut string", separately for both the left and right side of the tread.

The new SEMA version also provides an improvement to the balusters (balustrading rods). Handrails and cut strings of stairs can be kinked or curved depending on the room in which they are fitted. The balusters and their connections can now also be automatically calculated and adjusted to such curved counter-components. Previously, only a straight cut was possible. As of now, the rounding specified by the planning is included and the fit of the balusters is also specified and optimized for the installation.

Cross-platform, optimized planning is thus guaranteed. Collisions and issues are identified across trades - the resulting tasks and comments are exchanged and implemented by means of a clear communication.
